Covenant Families for Brighter Tomorrows

Advocating for Safer Schools and Stronger Communities

About Us

Covenant Families for Brighter Tomorrows was formed in the aftermath of the devastating school shooting at The Covenant School on March 27, 2023. We are a grassroots organization comprised of parents, survivors, and staff deeply impacted by this tragedy. Our objective is to provide education around the impact and prevention of school shootings, improve mental health support, and drive meaningful legislative change to ensure the safety of our children and staff in schools.

We firmly believe that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to learn and grow. As parents, family members, as well as individuals who directly survived the events of 3/27, we are driven by a shared commitment to honor the memory of our loved ones and prevent such tragedies from happening again.

By coming together and advocating for public safety reforms, we can shape a future where our schools are sanctuaries of learning, inspiration, and security where no child or educator lives in fear. Through collaboration and unity, we are working to bridge the divides that often hinder progress and work towards bipartisan solutions that prioritize the well-being of our communities and children.

Our organization seeks to stand as a beacon of hope, providing a platform to unite and channel our grief into tangible action. By engaging with legislators, community leaders, and stakeholders, we aim to create lasting change that will safeguard our schools and pave the way for a brighter future.,

Our Objectives

Advocacy Pillars for Safer Schools

In honor of our beloved late head of school, Dr. Katherine Koonce, we have formed our 3 pillars on the “Timeless Truth” of Micah 6:8: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Katherine used “Timeless Truths” as the foundation for all education. She sought to “prepare children to impact their culture and think in accordance with timeless truth.”  She recognized “the immense importance of holding fast to the truths of old. Our culture will never progress beyond the need for Jesus. There will never be a point in time when the truths of the Gospel are no longer relevant.”

As we aim to educate and advocate, we know we must hold fast to these “Timeless Truths” to make a meaningful impact.

School Safety Enhancements

We advocate for comprehensive measures that enhance security protocols, including improved infrastructure, increased training, and updated emergency response systems. By working collaboratively, we can ensure that schools are prepared to handle potential threats and minimize risks.

Mental Health Support

Recognizing the importance of mental health in preventing violence, we advocate for increased access to mental health resources within schools. We believe that early intervention, counseling services, and support programs can make a significant difference in identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate.

Responsible Firearm Ownership

We promote responsible firearm ownership by advocating for stricter background checks, closing loopholes in gun laws, and supporting legislation that ensures firearms are safely stored and inaccessible to unauthorized individuals. We believe in preserving Second Amendment rights while prioritizing the safety of our communities.
